The Food Dilemma of the Omnivore Essay Example for Free

The Food Dilemma of the Omnivore Essay Everybody loves food, especially America. Americans are obsessed with food, and that is correlated to the fact that in America, food is almost always readily available to us. We have fast food restaurants, grocery stores, restaurants, and farmers markets with most of the food being relatively affordable. Our nation without a doubt has many dilemmas that need to be solved, however if you were to group all of these dilemmas into different sets and focus on the â€Å"food† set of the dilemmas, which would be our nation’s current food dilemma? Taking everything into account, finding healthy, tasteful foods seems to be the main concern of many Americans today. With obesity on the rise like it is, healthy foods are a need to many of Americans. However, this is a very difficult dilemma to solve because many of the tasteful foods are usually the unhealthy ones, eating only healthy foods could very well make us miss out on key nutrients our body needs, and also the â€Å"important† qualities of food are only known because of science. Some of the trademarks of American foods are pizza and hamburgers, however when has a regular pizza or regular hamburger ever been ordered by someone on a strict diet or someone who only eats healthy foods? Hamburgers have been transformed into veggie burgers and pizzas have been changed to white pizzas. The problem with veggie burgers and white pizzas are they simply do not taste as good as a regular hamburger or pizza. As Michael Pollen stated, â€Å"to think of some of the most delicious components of food as toxins, as nutritionism has taught us to do in the case of fat, does little for our happiness as eaters† (13). When Americans try and eat healthy, they opt to go for the healthy options and not the unhealthy options even though those are the foods that taste the best. So to conquer the dilemma of finding healthy, tasteful foods, we must find healthy foods that taste as good as the unhealthy foods. In America, the amount of Americans who vow to eat healthy and live a  healthy life has indeed gone up of the past decades, but how come the amount of Americans who get sick and who get diseases have gone up. The quality of life is certainly greater now than it was during World War II and during the steel mill days, but the amount of cancer patients has gone up along with many other life threatening diseases. Could that be connected to the fact that food is no longer what it used to be and vital nutrients are missing from our diet because they are only available to us from unhealthy foods? In The Changing Significance of Food, Margaret Mead brings up the question, â€Å"how can the country be overnourished and undernourished at the same time† (15). Mead is point on when she states that America is overnourished based upon how many healthy foods we have, however it is very interesting when she states we are undernourished at the same time. America is able to be both undernourished and overnourished because the healthy, diet foods do not contain the nutrients we need to live a healthy life. An example of this would be the choice between whole milk and skim milk for a baby or toddler. Skim milk is obviously healthier and does not contain as many calories as whole milk, however does skim milk supply all of the nutrients whole milk does to the body. If we can succeed in adding all of the nutrients we as humans need to the deemed â€Å"healthy† foods, we will be a step closer in conquering the problem of finding healthy, tasteful foods. There are so many foods out there that are labeled healthy, like turkey, white chicken, green tea, and skim milk. However, how do we as consumers know what make all these healthy foods healthy? All of the information we know about food comes from inside a laboratory where food scientists study the components of all the food imaginable. Because of this, any food with any trace of fat in it is automatically thrown out of consideration for being labeled healthy. On the other hand, sure fat may not be healthy, but what if there is a health benefit to eating a certain kind of fat. Maybe down the line scientists will discover a certain kind of fat can help prevent cancer. Going back to Michael Pollen’s article of Nutritionism, Pollen’s quotes Harvey Levenstein when he states â€Å"taste is not a true guide to what should be eaten; that one should not simply eat what one enjoys; that the important components of foods cannot be seen or tasted, but are discernible only in scientific laboratories† (14). Important qualities of  foods now a day are calories, fat and carbohydrates while in the past they were vitamin B, protein and calcium. When producers take out all the unhealthy nutrients in food, the tastefulness of the food indeed goes down, making it a less desirable option. Once again, with the â€Å"important† qualities of food being limited and constraint to a strict standard, it is harder to combat the problem of finding healthy, tasteful foods. Closing out the problems that make it harder to combat the dilemma of finding healthy, tasteful food options, consumers must remember that eating healthy is a very tricky thing. Like stated earlier, the choice between skim milk and whole milk can be a very difficult decision because of the pros and cons of each choice, but in the end the choice should always be decided on which food is better for your body, not which is the â€Å"labeled healthier† option. All in all, our nation’s current food dilemma is finding healthy, tasteful foods because many of the tasteful foods are the unhealthy ones, the country is so concerned about eating healthy we are missing some vital nutrients from the â€Å"unhealthy† foods, and the â€Å"important† qualities of food are only known because of science.

Measuring Patient Dependency in Clinical Settings

Measuring Patient Dependency in Clinical Settings Title: Should patient dependency be used to set nurse-staffing levels in general hospital wards? Introduction: In this section, we perform a literature review to discuss patient dependency in clinical settings, and examine how we can measure patient dependency levels. We also discuss whether patient dependency levels should and could form the criteria for setting nurse-staffing levels in the hospital. We will also analyze the other different methods and criteria that can help to determine nurse staffing levels within the clinical setting. Patient dependency levels indicates the requirements of nurses and the extent to which patients will need nurses for their continuous care. Nurse patient ratios are often used to discuss the nurse staffing levels and these figures indicate whether staffing levels have to be increased or decreased. We would aim our discussion of patient dependency necessitating increase in staffing levels and the patient nurse ratio as indicators of nurse staffing both within general hospital wards and at critical care and emergency units. Evidential Information Patient dependency may just form an important part of nursing staff and workload of an individual nurse. Hurst (2005) conducted an important study on the nature and value of dependency acuity quality (DAQ) demand side nursing workforce-planning methods, which are set in the context of nursing workforce planning and development. Extensive DAQ data was obtained from UK nursing workforce in 347 wards, which involved 64 high quality, and 62 low quality hospital wards. The study gives special consideration to workload and quality contexts. New insights have been generated with this study and Hurst emphasizes that poor quality care is more common in larger wards that have fluctuating and unstable workload and nurse – patient ratio. Smaller workloads having consistent and high workload of nursing staff results in inflexible nurse staffing so staff levels and performed duties remain the same. Studies definitely suggest that nursing activity and staffing differences do form an importan t part of defining and contributing to the quality of the wards with higher staffing levels and more consistent work for nurses at high quality wards and lower staffing levels and irregular services with low nurse-patient ratio in low quality wards. From this evidence, it is possible to provide recommendations for nursing management and practice and probe into more accurate relations of dependency acuity quality in DAQ measures. In a study using assessment of patient nurse dependency systems for determining nurse-patient ratio in the ICU and HDU, Adomat et al (2004) point out that a huge range of patient classification systems or tools are used in critical care units to inform workforce planning, and nursing workload although the application of these methods may not always be relevant, complete or appropriate. The systems or tools used for patient classification and categorization were developed solely for the purpose of more efficient distribution of patient across hospital sections, although now the same systems are used for workforce planning, distribution of workload, determining nurse-patient ratio in critical care settings. However these changes can raise a number of issues related to workforce planning, staffing levels and nursing management in general. Adomat and Hewison evaluate the three main assessment systems used in critical care units to effectively determine the necessary nurse-patient ratio t hat can provide the best quality service in the wards. The application of these tools is to enhance the quality of care by keeping nurse-patient ratio at its optimum. The authors suggest that decisions relating to workload planning and determining the nurse patient ratio are dependent on an understanding of the origins and purpose of the classificatory tools that categorizes patients and measures their dependency on care services. Patient dependency and classification systems as well as patient dependency scoring systems for severity of illness are measures indicating mortality and morbidity although Adomat points out that these dependency measure may not be real indicators or determinants of the nurse-patient ratio that help in measuring nursing input. The costs of providing a nursing service within critical care uses nursing intensity measures to give a framework for nursing management and patient care and also determines the exact role of patient dependency in nurse staffing leve ls. However, components of the nursing role and how it determines standards of care have not been fully determined (Adomat and Hewison, 2004). They point out that careful consideration of patient dependency and classification systems may be necessary to plan, organize and provide a cost effective critical care service. In a similar study, Adomat and Hicks (2003) evaluates the nursing workload in intensive care a there is a growing shortage of nurses in these care units. The problem identified in this shortage lies in the method for calculating the nurse/patient ratio using the Nurse Workload Patient Category scoring and classificatory system use in most intensive care units. The nurse-patient ratio is determined by using the patient category or dependency scales and the general assumption is that the more critically ill a patient is, the more care and nursing time will be required for the patient. Many critically ill patients placed on a high level of mechanical care such as a feeding or ventilator tube and in intensive units may however require less direct personal nursing care than patients who are self ventilating or have been considered to have lower levels of dependence. Thus patient dependence may be addressed by means other than direct nursing care and artificial care and support systems may b used instead of nursing staff. These and other factors show that patent dependency may not be a completely relevant measure for determining nurse –patient ratio or nurse staffing levels and many associate factors have to be considered. This study by Adomat and Hicks use a video recorder to document nurse activity in 48 continuous shifts within two intensive care units and helped to determine the accuracy of the Nursing Workload Patient Category scoring system to measure nurse workload. The data obtained from the video of nurse activity was then correlated with the Patient category scale score that was allocated to the patient by the nurse in charge. The results of this study showed that the nursing skills required in these care units were of low skill type despite the needs of care being complex in general. It was found that nurses spent less time with patients who were categorized as in need of intensive care than those in need and in high dependency range in all units. T he findings indicate that existing nurse patient ratio classifications are inappropriate as nurses spend less and less time with critically ill patients. The authors expose the flaws of classification or scaling systems that tend to correlate care with critical illness. They suggest that radical reconsideration of nursing levels and skills mix should make it possible to increase provisions and levels of intensive care providing the right numbers of staff at the appropriate units where patients need them most suggesting more flexible and alternative approaches to the use of nurse-patient ratios. In a similar study discussing relationship between workload, skill mix and staff supervision, Tibby et al (2004) proposes a systems approach and suggests that hospital adverse events or AE are more likely when sub-optimal working conditions occur. Proper working conditions are thus absolutely necessary to ensure the smooth working of the clinical setting. Tibby and colleagues analyzed the adverse events in a pediatric intensive care unit using a systems approach and observational study to investigate the association between the occurrence of these adverse events and latent risk factors including temporal workload, supervision issues, skills mix, nurse staffing and the interactions between established clinically related risk factors (Tibby et a, 2004). The data was collected form 730 nursing shifts and the analysis was done with logistic regression modeling. The rate of adverse events was 6 for every hundred patient days and the factors associated with increased AE including day shift , patient dependency, number of occupied beds, and simultaneous management related issues although these were considerably decreased with enhanced supervisory ability of the nurses. Decreased number of adverse events have been found to be related to the presence of a senior nurse in charge, high proportion of shifts handled by rostered, trained, permanent staff and the presence of junior doctors. Patient workload factors such as bed occupancy and the extent to which the patient needs help and nursing supervisory levels and level of staffing such as presence of a senior nurse have been found to be associated. This study sheds light on the factors increasing or decreasing adverse events and helps in identifying the issues closely related to the need of regulating and optimizing nurse staffing levels. As we have already suggested through a study by Adomat and Hicks, patients in high dependency units may require more frequent nursing care and higher nurse-patient ratios than critical care units where patients may be supported by artificial methods. According to a study by Garfield et al (2000) high dependency units are increasing in the hospitals and becoming more important as part of a hospital’s facilities. Although the optimum staffing ratio for patients is unknown for such units, the Department of Health and Intensive Care Society recommend a level of one nurse for every two patients. Garfield et al recorded Therapeutic Intervention Scoring System scores and Nurse Dependency Scores in high dependency units over 7 months. The results indicated a weak correlation between nurse dependency score and therapeutic intervention scoring system score. The authors argue that a nurse-patient ratio of 1:2 may be insufficient for the management of a high dependency unit and based on t heir findings recommends a nurse to patient ratio of 2:3. Balogh (1992) points out that the literature on audits of nursing care shows a strong relation between the quality of nursing care provided and nursing labour force and staffing issues. Balogh suggests that all assumptions for setting nurse staffing levels on the basis of variations in patient dependency are unscientific and there are moreover no opportunities to use personal judgment in decision-making within hospitals to determine nurse-patient ratios. Balogh points out that such methods for determining staffing levels as well as audit instruments are outdated and insufficient to optimize service levels. The paper highlights the need for greater flexibility, more decision making power, and a more significant role of nurses’ personal judgment in selection and management of appropriate nurse staffing levels in dependency and critical care units. Conclusion: In this review of literature on the exact role of patient dependency in determining nurse staffing levels, we began by suggesting that it is generally believed that the more critical condition a patient is in, the higher the requirements of direct care suggesting that nurse patient ratio should be high in critical care units. This assumption however has been refuted by studies which shows that such clear criteria may not be sufficient for nurse management and staffing level decisions and other factors have to be considered. These include artificial means of life support and other mechanical devices that minimizes the need for manual staffing and reduces a critical patient’s nursing needs. A related study suggested that high dependency units rather than critical care units should be provided with higher levels of staffing although many other factors such as supervisory levels of senior nurses, skills available and already established method of determining nurse patient ratios s eem to be crucial factors. Along with the approach taken by several authors we can also suggest that personal judgment of nurses on the care needed by patients rather than inflexible scaling or scoring systems should be used by hospitals to determine staffing levels, considering patient dependency levels as well. Aristotles Logical Foundation of Physiognomics :: Aristotle

Aristotle's Logical Foundation of Physiognomics ABSTRACT: Whenever we meet an unknown person, our first judgment, even unwillingly and often subconsciously, starts from his or her external appearance. Since character can be properly recognized only from words and deeds observed over some time, at first sight we have to rely on what we immediately can see. This physiognomical first approach to each other is as old as humankind, and, though it has never been able to be proved a proper science, in everyday life we all believe in and use physioculture. The earliest extant written work on the subject is the pseudo-Aristotelian treatise Physiognomonica. The author of its first part, in discussing the methodology of the art, refers to Aristotle, who develops the logical foundation of physiognomical inference: as an enthymeme, a syllogism from signs. Yet, concentrating solely on the formal logical analysis, Aristotle does not touch the central point of physiognomics; it C. S. Peirce’s discovery of the triadic relation of the sign t hat was able to shed new light on this central problem and to see physiognomics as a process of semiosis. Thus, Aristotle founded the formal logical basis, from which modern semiotics developed new approaches to physiognomics, taking them in account in several strands of their research. Whenever we meet an unknown person, our first judgement – unwillingly and often subconsciously – starts from his or her external appearance. Almost every aspect of it can be regarded as some kind of clue: for instance, clothing and hairstyle tell something about social status and personal fashion, facial expression and gestures indicate the emotional state of mind, and clinical symptoms allow to diagnose a disease. Yet all those features are superficial and changeable, and therefore don’t tell anything about the inner nature and character of a person, by which we define personality and identity. Since character shows itself only in words and deeds, it would need a long-term observation to detect it (always unrealistically assuming that the character be constant), and still there is hardly a safeguard against wilful deceit. Here, as a short-cut method, physiognomics is used: the art of inferring character from the physique of body and face – especially from those features that can hardly be influenced by their bearer like bone-structure, stature, voice, and the supposedly unconscious parts of body language. An immediate physiognomical inference is necessary for survival in the animal world: to decide at first glance whether the other is prey or predator, friend or foe, that is: whether it is save to stay and to approach or better to flee, to defend or attack.

Disparity Between The Passion Of The Christ by Mel Gibson and The Bible

"The Passion of the Christ" by Mel Gibson, recounts the last twelve hours of the life of Jesus of Nazareth, portraying his arrest, trial, crucifixion and death. One of the most popular religious movies in modern times, it therefore becomes susceptible to criticism. Although the film is based upon the stories within the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, there are many exaggerations and non-biblical elements present in the movie. This is not unexpected, since it is a movie, but the vivid detail of the brutality in the movie as well as the Anti-Semitic theme are the most publicly criticized elements of the movie. The Passion emphasizes the brutality Jesus endured to give himself for his people, but at the same time in the movie the Jews are the ones that cry for his death. During several scenes of The Passion of the Christ, there are elements such as characters, themes, and motifs that are not found within the gospels, but are in the movie to add more dramatic elements. One of the most common arguments about The Passion is that it is focused on the intentional blaming of the Jews for the death of Jesus Christ. Throughout the movie, and in particular the scenes where he is held before Pontius Pilate and Caiaphus, Jesus is berated and blamed for blasphemy by his own people, a notion that is not explicitly talked about within the Bible. It is obvious in the movie and the Bible though, that Jesus has no bad intentions or threats to anybody, yet he becomes the enemy. The implied reason for this is that the Jews rejected Jesus and God. But why are the ideas of love and freedom that Jesus is promoting, in the movie and the Bible, so evil and unacceptable according to the people and high priests? At most of t... ... that the whole Earth experiences the consequences of his crucifixion and death. Also, in the gospel of Luke, it is noted that one of the thieves being crucified asks of Jesus, "Remember me when you come into your kingdom", and Jesus accepts his recognition. In the movie, the other thief just laughs at this conversation, and a raven lands upon his cross and pecks out his eyes. This is not detailed in the gospels, but is added into the movie as a sign of karma. The slight differences in The Passion of the Christ and the gospels' accounts are made to create a more dramatic feeling for the viewer. The addition of devils and Satan to the story adds more emotion, and stresses the dedication Jesus had to his people. Overall, the differences between the stories are to show a more creative depiction of the sacrifice and determination that Jesus gave for his people.

Shakespeares View On Love Essay example -- William Shakespeare

Shakespeare’s View on Love Shakespeare’s plays are very drastic with how he ties love into them. Shakespeare always adds comedy or tragedy to any romance that might be taking place. For example in Twelfth Night, As You like It and Romeo and Juliet there is romance but he also puts comedy in there so love is not that easy. In the play Othello he makes it into a tragedy which makes the love even harder to take place. Shakespeare has always found a way to make love as complicated as he can which leads me to believe that he feels that you must work for love and it should not be handed to you. Love is already complicated, but when Shakespeare is involved he makes sure at least two things come around that can make it harder for those who are in love to actually stay in love. Twelfth Night is a romantic comedy which leads to romantic love being the main focus of the play. In this play, Shakespeare shows that love can cause pain. He does this by causing a love triangle which includes; †¢ Viola likes Duke but †¢ Duke likes Olivia and †¢ Olivia like Cesario who is actually Viola disguised as her twin brother. Because of this confusing love triangle, some of the characters seem to view love as a curse. They also claim to suffer painfully from being in love or from the â€Å"pangs† of unrequited love. In Act 1 scene 5, Olivia describes love as a â€Å"plague† from which she suffers terribly. In Act 1 scene 1, Orsino depicts love dolefully as an â€Å"appetite† that he wants to satisfy and cannot. Another example of the characters not â€Å"liking† love is in Act 2 scene 2 when Viola says â€Å"My state is desperate for my master’s love.† This quote relates to the violence in Act 5 scene 1 when Orsino threatens to kill Cesario because he thin... ...and they will go together. Clubs cannot part them.† Act 5 scene 2 †¢ â€Å"This bud of love by summer’s ripening breath may prove a beauteous flower when next we meet.† Romeo and Juliet Act 2 scene 1 †¢ â€Å"She loved me for the dangers I had passed, and I loved her that she did pity them.† Othello Act 1 scene 3 †¢ Give me my Romeo; and, when he shall die, take him and cut him out in little stars, and he will make the face of heaven so fine that all the world will be in love with night and pay no worship to the garish sun. ~Romeo and Juliet †¢ What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other word would smell as sweet. ~Romeo and Juliet †¢ But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks? it is the east, and Juliet is the sun. ~Romeo and Juliet †¢ Good night, good night, parting is such sweet sorrow, that I shall say good night till it be morrow. ~Romeo and Juliet

Use Electronic Message Systems

Please find below some guide questions to help you when writing a statement for this unit, (if you would prefer, you can make notes on these points and we can have a taped discussion at our next visit)General Knowledge for using electronic message systems:Describe what the main types of electronic message systems are (for example, emails, instant messaging, text messaging etc) In our company we are using two of the main types of electronic message systems are as follows: †¢E-mails, these work by the message leaving your inbox, it is then transferred to a number of servers before it reaches the other persons inbox. During this time it passes through a few servers, some of which save the email for future reference.†¢Faxes are another type of electrical message system, this works by drawing the documents through it, scanning them and saving digital images into memory. The machine dials the number, waits for acknowledgment from the fax machine on the other end then transfers th e images using different frequency tones to translate varying shades of dark and light.Describe what the different features of electronic message systems are Emails are more superior then Faxes as you can attach things, and they can be used for a variety of things. Signing up to websites, they can also be used for video conferencing. You are not limited to how long the email is you are sending, however when you are using a fax machine you are charged by how many pages you send. This can be costly if it is used on a regular basis, whereas emails are free and readily available.Explain the purpose of keeping an electronic message system up to date The purpose of keeping an electronic message system up to date is that I know which messages I dealt with also to avoid miscommunication. It also allows me to have more clear view at other messages. For example every day when I’m coming to work first what I do is checking my email to find what task I have  to do. As soon as I replay I am moving them to folders or delete if are not important.Describe how to use an electronic message system to check and delete or discard messages On our computers we are using Microsoft Outlook.   First what I need to do is log in to my account by using login and password then I can see all emails what been send to me directly or to address group where I’m included. When I get an email, my computer displays an envelope in the task bar area, plays a sound and also pops up on my screen to let me know that I have mail. All new massages are bold font so are easy to spot. Enough if I click on message it will show on right site of my desktop and automatically sender will receive message that I have read his email. After read and respond I moving massages to adequate folder to keep information for case I’ll need it (for example attached forms) or delete if are finish and not needed any more. To delete message I need highlight message and click â€Å"Delete† button w hat move the message to â€Å"Delete items† then if I want remove permanently I need right click and choose â€Å"Empty bin†Explain the purpose of leaving clear messages for othersThe purpose of leaving clear messages for others is that we can make sure that the point we want to get across is received and hopefully understood. This can also minimize potential conflict that could come from misunderstanding. Now show me how you use electronic message systems and give me some examples of the following (you can use screen shots and explanations to illustrate your answers)Give me an example of a message that you have responded to within suitable timescale, show the message from someone and your message that you sent backTwice a week we send packaging to Spain.First what we receiving are details about transport from trays control department: Who, when and what will be collected. Then we are receiving a list of packaging from packaging planers:When everything is ready I sending back list with quantities prepared to let know planers what exactly was send and what left in our stores.Show me how you delete messages once they have been dealt withNext click on â€Å"Delete Items† folder by right click open menu and chose â€Å"Empty folder†.

Water Pollution

Water pollution is when a body of water is adversely affected due to the addition of large amounts of materials to the water. (www. imbgnet. net) There are four types of water pollutions and I’m going to describe each one of them. I’m also going to tell you the solutions that I can up with and how I’m going to get the government and people involved to help. It is a lot of things that we don’t know about water pollution and how bad it is for our health. Every year, 14 billion pounds of sewage, sludge, and garbage are dump into the water. (www. hinkquest. com) Nineteen trillion gallons of waste also enter the water annually and it is a hard thing to clean up. The first type of water pollution I’m going to talk about is Toxic substance; which is a chemical pollutant that is not a naturally occurring substance. This is what we would call man made material that we dump into the water every day. The second one is Organic substance that occurs when an excess of organic matter such as manure or sewage enters the water. This is a natural thing that we as humans can try to stop at a point in time. Water pollution is a point and a non point source pollution in which we are a big factor of. The point source is the waste that we put into the water every day and the way we store the waste that we use. The non point source is like the sewage we dump and we know that we are doing it. One of the ways that we are putting waste into the water is being on the cruise ships. They are dumping the sewage, bath water, and the other material into the ocean. It is killing all of the food and making us sick on a day to day living. Water pollution is one of the worst things that we should ever let happen in the world. Most countries can’t drink or take baths in the water without boiling it first. The non living things that contribute to the cause of water pollution are all the things that we as humans make or use. The thing that we use in everyday living is a big part of the pollution problem. The living things that are affected by this are the people and animals that need the water to survive. People we need the water to do almost everything that we do when we get up in the morning. We have to drink this water, baths with it, and cook with it every day. We should be careful about the thing that we do and how we do it. The more that we pollute the water the more living things will die and our food supply will be cut out. Thermal pollution is the third one I’m going to talk about it occurs when water is used as a coolant near a power or industrial plant. The water is returned to the environment at a higher temperature than it was originally. Some plants treat the water before it is released back into the environment, but they forget to let it cool down before they release it back. Ecological pollution takes place when chemical pollution, organic pollution, or thermal pollution is cause by natural than by human activity. Water pollution is increasingly becoming a large problem that humans con confront. Water is the most valuable resource. Just think of how much humans dependent on clean water. Water is more valuable than gold, can we go a day, week, year without, gold or water? The fact is we drink the water, we use it irrigation for farm fields, cooking, washing clothes, flushing toilets, and industrial process requires water to function. The earth’s surface is covered by 70% water, why fuss of protect water? Only 3% of all water is fresh and drinkable and that 75% is frozen, which leaves a grand total of 1% of the Earth’s surface water is readily available for consumption. Taking the fact into account, one can see why the conservation and protection of our remaining water supply is vital. Water pollution can be stopped, sources of the pollution must be known. Solution is like people, each one is complex as well different. Every part time environmentalist can have a solution to any environmental problem ails this planet. That is not to say that they are always right. We as humans play a major part into what goes into the water and how it gets there. We might not think that we are doing it, but we are. I think that since we realize that we are doing it we can find a way to stop it. The first thing that we need to do is get the big wigs to join in, but before I get into that we are going to talk a little more about water pollution. I think that we can find a better way to store the waste that some of the plants are using. Conversely, are not always wrong either. The solution is the first part, making the solution a reality is second. Water pollution is a problem most everyone would agree does exist. Individuals can do a lot to help with the water pollution problems and aid in the water pollution solutions. By buying organic food and green household cleaners and personal care items to prevent the run off of chemical into ground water. Many pharmaceuticals are eliminated as possible and stay away from meats and the raising used of hormones and drugs. It is important to properly dispose of any paints and varnishes. To implement water pollution solutions is to use less plastics and plastic products and not to litter. Water pollution solutions are very affordable to put into effect. The Unite State research Council has estimated that to do initial clean-up of all contaminated groundwater is over 300,000 sites across the United States it will cost $1 trillion dollars over the course of thirty years. It would average out to 33 cents per person per day. To reestablishing wetlands is to act as a buffer zone to runoff and to assist in filtering pollutants. Less drive to reduce the amount of air pollution being emitted into the environment and minimize the amount of nitrogen deposition. To improve the sewage treatment system to stop the leaks in the pipes. Conserve water, improve storm water management. Monitor watershed. Stop deforestation to soak up the rain water and prevent runoff from occurring. The best water pollution solutions are simply to pressure our government officials here in the United States, to enforce the environmental protections already on the books. The laws is important, if the elected officials is not properly fund enforcement measures and these agencies with those individuals who is committed to protected the environment, and the laws isn’t worth the recycled paper it’s written on. If we can get the government to become a big part in the clean up then we will make a great impact on the world. We will just need the government to help fund the clean up and make sure that we wouldn’t have to do it again. I think that if the government make the law sick then we want have to reclean the water ever again. I think that the benefits will best suit the living things that use the water every day and need it to survive. We want get sick, need to boil it, and we want have to worry about what’s in it. We also want have to worry about the food that we get out of the water having something or dying off. The animals in the world won’t die off so quickly and they won’t have to find water to drink. I think that the challenges will be to get the government involve and the people involved. I think that the most that we will get out of them both is half and that will be a good start. For the most part will be to get the funding for the cleanup and a place to store all the waste that we get out of the water. When it is all said and done we will be able to see a new change in the water. We will be able to look clear through the water and see all the way to the bottom. I think that with the help of every one we can make this happen and at the end we can be ever proud of ourselves. I think that with all the planning and the solutions that we can make it happen before the year is out. It will take a lot of hard work and time, but as a big group we can make it all worth wide at the end. We should look at what this will mean to all living things and how much it will change the world. We can leave this and show the kids to come how beautiful the world can be. We can save many lives and protect the kids of the future America. It will be even better if I can get a least three hundred people from each country to help out right along with their government. The government plays a big part and I will make sure that they understand it to the fullest. I think that we can make a difference in the world if we just put our mind to it. We can’t let the water that we use every day continue to be like this and making us sick. We need to put our foot down and tell them no more with an attitude attached to it. We should take a stand and let the others know that we will not take it anymore. We need to tell them that it is time for a change and the change is now. We need to stand up as one and show the people who are polluting the waters that we will not take any more of this. We need to come up with a way to make this stick and make sure it is there to stay. I think that we can do it and get everyone involves to make this dream a reality for all those to come and the ones that are here to stay. Water Pollution Water pollution is when a body of water is adversely affected due to the addition of large amounts of materials to the water. (www. imbgnet. net) There are four types of water pollutions and I’m going to describe each one of them.
